After recently dropping single and video ‘Dangerous Settings’ in February, Rival is not slowing up with a new track this week – ‘Shaolin Techniques’.
‘Shaolin Techniques’ is a slice of sino-grime production from Brelstaff, heavy on the far eastern sonic influence. The lo-fi sound evokes memories of imported VHS tapes of Kung Fu movies, showing off unbelievable moves and techniques from tiger style to preying mantis. And it’s on this platform that veteran MC Rival shows off his superlative style. He delivers a vocal performance as concussive and rapid as the strikes of a Wing Chun master.
The video is just as rich and evocative, as Rival hits the streets of London’s Chinatown at night with Honey JD behind the camera capturing the neon lights and Asian architecture serving as a backdrop to Rival’s performance.
You can stream or download Shaolin Techniques now on all good digital platforms and be sure to follow @JusRival on socials for the latest.
