Hi! I’m Lozzy C, and I curate Wheel Up Wednesdays for Keepin It Grimy. I round up my favourite radio sets from the past 7 days, showcasing the best instrumentals, blends, and mixes from the wizards behind the decks, and delving into all aspects of Grime, 140, garage, and more.
Starting off this week with week with a mighty mix from Manchester’s own Chimpo. He dropped a 40 minute 100% jungle dubplate mix on his Soundcloud featuring tunes from Jamakabi, Sizzla, Flirta D, Beanie Man and more. I think Chimpo’s letting us know absolutely no one wants it with him in the war!
Oblig invited SD9 down to his Rinse FM show for a set. SD9 has been ridiculously active on the radio since arriving in London, touching sets across most stations. This one, however, was the one I was really looking forward to, as Oblig went to Brazil in 2020, so I was anticipating some tangible chemistry between DJ and MC. There was, of course, plenty of that, as the Brazilian cruised on Grime and later Drill riddims.
Riz La Teef gave us an hour of Garage power on Rinse FM last week. Some classic, sun drenched 2-step riddims for you to enjoy.
Finishing off this week with a couple of instrumental mixes that Mode London dropped on their YouTube channel. The first of which comes from J Beatz. It’s half an hour of riddims you can buss a gun finger to, or skank to, or both. The selection is percussive and skippy, with plenty of his own productions in there. Proper summer grime mix.
The next one was from Joe The Third as he went B2B with Karnage. The range of tunes they played made this set a really interesting watch, mixing their way through riddims from pretty much every era; a grime instrumental history lesson, if you will.
