Hi! I’m Lozzy C, and I curate Wheel Up Wednesdays for Keepin It Grimy. I round up my favourite radio sets from the past 7 days, showcasing the best instrumentals, blends, and mixes from the wizards behind the decks, and delving into all aspects of Grime, 140, garage, and more.
As I scoured various platforms for this week’s best mixes and sets I found myself returning to one platform in-particular: Reprezent Radio. Therefore, this week I decided to make this Wheel Up Wednesday a Reprezent special! What’s crazy is that all six of the features today are from their YouTube channel, so there’s plenty of visuals for you to enjoy. I have to shout out all the hard working staff at Rep who work tirelessly to get all this content filmed, edited and uploaded.
Kick off this week by congratulating KIG‘s own Razor on three years with Reprezent. As of 2022, Razor rebranded his show to Really Rare Radio with myself and Dee coming in as co-presenters and producers. Unfortunately I couldn’t be there for this incredible three year anniversary show, but the mandem definitely made sure they celebrated the occasion properly. We invited Selecta Impact to jump on decks for a massive set, with Joe Fire, Rival, Tintz, Chowerman, Liberty and of course Razor touching the mic. All the MCs were feeding (EATING) off Impact’s Drill and Grime selection, with plenty of well-deserved wheels going about.
Renz dropped WhoopDiDiDoo Tape last week and has been busy promoting it across socials and radio stations. He went B2B with Duppy on the microphone, with fellow Negropop member Chamber45 on the decks. It’s clear Duppy and Renz have spent a lot of time doing sets with each other; they’re bouncing off each other nicely throughout. Chamber’s selection as ever is forward thinking and original. This is what Grime should sound like in 2022.
Timma T went B2B with Oblig and Spooky for his most recent show and Logan carried the microphone duties on his own (I know, WHAT A LINE UP?!). Three selectors with very different styles and selections, there were plenty of flows and pockets for Logan to pick, which he was all too happy to do. Half an hour of power, enjoy.
Happy Birthday to Joe Fire! The veteran MC celebrated his birthday on Kirby T‘s show with a serious line up of MCs. HMG‘s Doni Rampage and Aaze, Blackcrown’s J-Wing and Tiny Godfather joined JoSoSick, Bang GK and Kruz Leone. This has everything you want out of a birthday set: a packed studio, top DJ, through-balls galore and a whole lot of vibes.
That was the last of the sets for this week, but we’re still not done! Benteki graced us with another elite mix on his Saturday night show. An hour of vocal and instrumentals new-school UKG and Grime tracks, mixed at a very high level.
Finally, it’s another sensational guest-mix for Meltout Crew’s Reprezent show. Sharda came through to the Brixton studio to play 45 minutes of UKG bangers. This mix is worth listening to just for the unreleased Sharda tunes, but the mixing style and tune selection was just a impressive. Every blend made so much sense, every tune leading on from the last one as though you’re listening to one 45 minute song. Top DJing from Sharda.
