Hi! I’m Lozzy C, and I curate Wheel Up Wednesdays for Keepin It Grimy. I round up my favourite radio sets from the past 7 days, showcasing the best instrumentals, blends, and mixes from the wizards behind the decks, and delving into all aspects of Grime, 140, garage, and more.
J Beatz invited Payback’s Rolla and TCDAGENIUS for an in-depth interview and set on his Mode London show. The bars kick off about 15 minutes into the video, and my favourite moment comes early on (16 mins) with Rolla gliding over four tunes before getting the reload. These Payback guys really don’t miss.
Two birthday sets are featured this week! First of which was Trends’ on Pyro Radio. He went B2B with Slimzee and D.O.K with Logan, Jammz, Duppy, Joe Fire, Jososick and Blackcrown on mic. The energy is high from the offset; you can tell the MCs have been taking in this monstrous B2B and are itching to get on mic. Nothing new here but there’s a massive reload for Logan around 34 mins – amazing content. Happy birthday, Trends!
And happy birthday, R-YZ! He went B2B with Charisma and Citrus on his Mode show. Watching these tekky DJs go 3-for-3 for the first hour is a perfect warm up to the set, with plenty of old-school tunes, dubs as well as their own productions played. Joe Fire, Aaze, Doni Rampage, and 28 Luchi were invited to grace the microphone, with Joe setting the tone early on, catching a serious through-ball from Citrus.
Who doesn’t love consecutive Charisma features, eh? He had Manga Saint Hilare and Namesbliss pass through Pyro. This set is slick and smooth; two great barrers going B2B and Charisma providing the flavours on the decks. You can really chill while you take this one in, and after those first three sets above, you might want to!
DJ God, Neffa-T went B2B with Sumgii on his Thursday Rinse FM show. An eclectic mix of sounds, and contrasting DJing styles made this a really interesting listen, so interesting, in fact, that I want someone to book these to two to go B2B… immediately, please.
