My favourite sets and mixes from the past 7 days.
Spooky invited Doni Rampage, Tiny da G, 100K Wing, Joe Fire and Rival down to his Mode London show for an hour of bars. Plenty of moments in this but I’m still getting gassed over these B2B bars from Joe Fire and Rival. They get a big reload around 1hr 4mins over a clarty Spooky riddim. That’s another great thing about this set, there’s SO MANY Spooky productions in here, some you might know, some I’m pretty sure he billed that morning.
NE Girl was in the guestmix for Neffa T’s Rinse FM show. Over the half hour she was throwing down some heavy Dubstep, Grime, Breaks and even ended on some furious Techno. At the end of the mix Neffa said it might have been his favourite guestmix on his show. That is high, and well deserved praise.
Brazillian DJ Peroli has been up and down the UK playing live shows and radio sets, and it’s all sounded very hard, so I had to check out this guestmix for IAMGRIME’s Rinse FM show. The mix starts with some percussive, clubby (not really sure if that’s a word but we’re running with it) edits before getting grimier towards the end. Very happy to say there’s plenty of productions and vocals from Brazil, and all this together creates a really up-beat, exciting mix.
Tyrant provided us with an hour of UK funky, Garage and Bassline power for his Subtle show. I featured him recently for his mix for Meltout Crew, but I think this mix might be even better. This guy could play the biggest shows and have the crowds going nuts. “Every riddim needs a pull up” type selection.
